"Olympic City of Baden-Baden": this honorary title was awarded to the city in 1997 by the IOC. Why? When Baden-Baden became the eleventh venue of the Olympic Congress in 1991, the decision was made to reorient the Games conceptually. Sport has always enjoyed a great tradition in Baden-Baden. The festive TurnGala, which is organized annually by the Baden and Swabian Gymnastics Federation, can also be viewed against this background. The Gala enjoys cult status in Baden-Baden – featuring a varied sports entertainment program that also celebrates sports that aren’t that often seen on TV.
