Plácido Domingo

Arias and duets from Verdi’s most famous operas

Description Program Artists

All events for the second half of the 2020–2021 season are still planned, but cannot currently be booked. Advance ticket sales have been interrupted. The current experience with the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that in the event of strong demand (above the currently permitted 500 guests), advance sales can only be expanded once the official approval has been given to open the hall accordingly. We will continue to publish or confirm the final program six weeks before the scheduled event.

In contrast to the German composer Richard Wagner, the Italian Giuseppe Verdi cherished the aria throughout his life. Spanish singer Plácido Domingo can look back on long experience with both composers – as both a singer and conductor. Having been known for decades as one of the world’s leading tenors, with over 130 roles and 21 million recordings sold, Domingo is now being celebrated internationally as a baritone as well – most recently at Milan’s La Scala, where he received a full half hour of applause. The season before last, Festspielhaus audiences experienced him in Verdi’s opera Simon Boccanegra. Now he is bringing along three other leading singer personalities to pay tribute to Verdi’s music in a grand and festive gala.
