Mozart's Marriage of Figaro is one of the most perfect opera comedies ever written. It takes a lifetime to appreciate all its beauties. When the Countess forgives her unfaithful husband in the end, all intrigues are forgotten in a flash – Mozart has composed a miracle, something unheard of in the truest sense of the word: music that is unlike anything previously heard in opera. Conductor Iván Fischer is also breaking new ground in the connection between stage and music. He has built his Budapest Festival Orchestra into one of the finest orchestras in the world, and is now joined by it on his highly acclaimed excursions into the opera genre.
