Beethoven’s Piano Concertos II

Presale

  • for everyone from  |
When Jan Lisiecki was supposed to step in for Murray Perahia at short notice, only one of the Beethoven concertos was originally planned. But the young pianist had a vision – he convinced the concert organizer and played all five without further ado. A daring undertaking that he is now repeating at the Festspielhaus. In the second movement of the Fourth Piano Concerto, there is a kind of invisible opera scene – a dialogue between the singer Orpheus (piano) and the gods of the underworld (orchestra). In the Fifth Concerto, the musical language expands to monumental dimensions: Beethoven ends his impressive cycle with a heroic gesture.
