Siegfried-Idyll

Wagner & Britten

When Benjamin Britten presented his official Opus 1, he was just eighteen years old – and already a seasoned composer. Before he was ten, he had already written several sonatas and a full-fledged symphony. With the Sinfonietta, he was now introducing himself to the public for the first time – a masterpiece that is far too rarely heard. In complete contrast to Wagner's popular Siegfried Idyll, a musical gift to his wife on the birth of their first child.
