Loud, full of effects, often teeming with unforgettable tunes: film music goes back to the massive-scale symphonic writing at the beginning of the twentieth century. So why not combine the two in a single concert? Taking up this idea, young Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski is introducing himself to the Baden-Baden audience. First we will hear the theme music from Hitchcock's Vertigo, thanks to which American composer Bernard Herrmann went down in history with his spine-tingling score. And what do we associate with the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey? Strauss's world-famous theme from Also Sprach Zarathustra!
