Sunday Matinee

Ava Bahari

Coffee or tea? The composer Francis Poulenc had long ago made his choice. His Violin Sonata opens with a reference to the American hit song "Tea for Two" – in a work that is one of his most emotional. A joke on the edge of the abyss: typical of Poulenc, whom a friend aptly described as "a monk and a rascal at the same time." Together with pianist Nathanaël Gouin, Swedish violinist Ava Bahari presents the Sonata as the centerpiece of her varied program.
