One of the most fascinating pianists of our time, Grigory Sokolov also has a large fan base at the Festspielhaus. The remarkable Russian artist avoids interviews and self-aggrandizement, instead letting the music do the talking. At the age of just sixteen, he created a sensation as winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition. Today he is considered a legend at the piano. The pianist announces his carefully selected program in the weeks before the concert – and only in part: Sokolov is also famous for his numerous encores, which he only selects on the evening of the concert.
