Less is more? Think again!
Sometimes you’ve simply got to go all out: choruses, soloists, a huge orchestra, plus one of the most virtuoso piano concertos ever written. This evening audiences can look forward to a grand and overpowering aesthetic experience, getting to know Rachmaninoff’s The Bells, a masterwork of the symphonic choral repertoire. As a warm-up, the program will be featuring a classic – Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto combines Russian melodies with German counterpoint together with a level of virtuosity that only the very greatest pianists can lay claim to. Valery Gergiev will be conducting the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra and Chorus, with the incomparable Daniil Trifonov at the piano.
Performance ends at approximately 9:00 P.M.
