Not long ago a prominent national newspaper ran a feature debating the identity of the most brilliant pianist of the younger generation – is it Igor Levit or Daniil Trifonov? With questions like these, there are always arguments for and against, and never a consensus. Genius can’t be measured, it simply is what it is. But what everyone agrees on is that Trifonov is already one of the most important pianists of the new century. So savor this performance of Schumann’s Piano Concerto, featuring an exceptional artist in delightful collaboration with the Filarmonica della Scala under Riccardo Chailly – also in a class by himself and especially at home in German Romantic music.
Performance ends at approximately 8:00 P.M.
