A meeting of two singers who represent different musical styles and generations, singing solos and as a duet in such songs as “Can’t we be friends,” “You are so beautiful,” “Mr. Pianoman,” and “Can’t wait until tonight.”
When these two artists come together, it pushes back the limits of what we thought possible – and this is precisely why we’re so eagerly looking forward to the concert. Max Mutzke and Thomas Quasthoff? Sensational! We’re evidently not the only ones who underestimated the openness and willingness of both singers to explore new territory and see what each has to say.
Max Mutzke’s music blends pop rock, soul, funk, and jazz. The artist sings in both German and English. He represented Germany at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest – as one of the few artists whose participation in the competition did no harm to their careers. Quite the contrary: Mutzke has long been considered one of the leading talents in German pop music.
Thomas Quasthoff, in contrast, is a star of the international classical music scene – even after the baritone took a break from classical singing. Since then, he has been singing jazz and performing cabaret, delighting audiences with his creative programs and sense of humor.
