There was a time when Antonín Dvorák was called the Bohemian Brahms, which was actually an unflattering way of saying “Brahms, but not as good.” But now Dvorák is recognized as a master, and his Violin Concerto is universally considered a milestone in the genre – in addition to being one of the concertos beloved not only among soloists, but also among conductors. Sir Simon Rattle is a great champion of the work, like Wilhelm Furtwängler and Richard Strauss before him. What an unforgettable impression when the solo violin and winds alternately merge and compete with each other – in our performance, they will be contending with the fabulous Lisa Batiashvili.
Performance ends at approximately 8:00 P.M.
