La tragédie de Carmen

Chamber opera at the Baden-Baden Theater

Sold out

Legends have grown around this version of the Carmen classic. The great theater producer Peter Brook condensed Bizet’s score and left out the choir and excess folklore elements. No sugar, and extra spice – only the protagonists remained as they were. This version was popular in the 1980s. We’ll be playing the music once again, and offering a completely new stage interpretation. Be prepared for a surprise!

Performance ends at approximately 7:45 P.M.
In French with German surtitles

A collaboration between the Berlin Philharmonic, the Festival Hall Baden-Baden, the “Academy Opera Today” program of the Deutsche Bank Foundation, and the Baden-Baden Theater.
