Gewandhaus Orchestra & Sir John Eliot Gardiner
Isabelle Faust & Kristian BezuidenhoutTickets
The inner life of a boy wonder.
“Child prodigy” is almost an understatement. Mendelssohn’s early works are currently undergoing a radical re-evaluation. The double concerto for violin, piano and orchestra was written when the composer was 14 years old. A teenager on the brink of puberty translates his innermost thoughts and emotions into art – a feat that, almost 200 years on, continues to amaze audiences.
Performance ends ca. 8.50 pm
