Five festivals and seven opera productions

The 2020–2021 Festspielhaus Baden-Baden season program will feature five festivals. “Seven operas, including four staged productions, will form the backbone of the new season,” says the Artistic Director. His second Baden-Baden program will also be honing the profile of the different Baden-Baden festivals and offering a renewed focus on the musical history of the cultural haven of Baden-Baden. Richard Strauss’s Salome and Peter I. Tchaikovsky’s Mazeppa will be presented in Baden-Baden in new opera productions.

The 2020–2021 season will begin on September 20, 2020 with Sir Simon Rattle conducting a concert performance of Béla Bartók’s operatic thriller Bluebeard´s Castle. In addition to its traditional autumn residence in Baden-Baden, the Hamburg Ballett John Neumeier will return to the Festspielhaus during the Whitsun Festival 2021. On this occasion, the company will perform Olivier Messiaen´s “Turangalîla Symphony” with the SWR Symphonieorchester.
