For the first time, the Baden-Baden Autumn Festival from October 21 to November 1, 2021 will be dedicated to the region’s musical proximity to France. Thomas Hengelbrock, who has adopted France as his country of residence, and his Balthasar Neumann Ensembles will be coming to Baden-Baden with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most “French” opera, Idomeneo. During All Saints weekend, Teodor Currentzis and British photo artist Mat Collishaw will interpret Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in a visual display, the precursors of which can already be seen in the Festspielhaus foyer as part of an accompanying art event. "We have firm plans to dedicate a substantial festival to Franco-German friendship in the future," says Stampa, revealing one of his projects.
