"Respect and hope." With these two words, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden Artistic Director Benedikt Stampa describes the mindset behind his 2021 autumn program. In 50 events featuring big names of the music world such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Hamburg Ballet (John Neumeier), the Mariinsky Theater, Thomas Hengelbrock, Teodor Currentzis, Igor Levit, Elīna Garanča, Annette Dasch, Klaus Florian Vogt, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Yuja Wang, and Gautier Capuçon, music will at last have the opportunity to speak again.

“With all due respect for the pandemic, I would also like to put respect for the artists back into the forefront,” said Stampa, who is convinced that the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, as one of the country’s largest opera and concert halls, is a “safe place."

The 2021 autumn program will make up for artist performances, and in some cases also programs, that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. At the same time, “bridges of hope into the future” will also be built, says Stampa.
