Valery Gergiev andMichael Volle

Münchner Philharmoniker; Music from Mussorgsky und Tchaikovsky

Description Program Artists

Almost for his home audience: baritone Michael Volle was born as one of eight siblings to a Swabian pastor family in Freudenstadt. The artist has long been one of the most sought-after singers on all major stages. In this symphony concert with the Münchner Philharmoniker, Volle will present Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death, somber, fairytale-like, Russian symbolist songs that are still performed far too rarely in Germany. The latter cannot be said of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, which will feature alongside it on the program: the dramatic and melodious work is one of the absolute powerhouses of the repertoire.
