When Tugan Sokhiev, music director of Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater, conducted the Philharmoniker in an inimitable performance of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, audiences and critics alike were captivated. After this experience, the orchestra invited the conductor to join them at the Easter Festival. In addition to the Pictures, we will be hearing Beethoven’s dramatic Coriolan Overture along with Mendelssohn’s celebrated Violin Concerto with Christian Tetzlaff as the soloist.
