Sonya Yoncheva

Aria recital

Description Program Artists

All events for the second half of the 2020–2021 season are still planned, but cannot currently be booked. Advance ticket sales have been interrupted. The current experience with the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that in the event of strong demand (above the currently permitted 500 guests), advance sales can only be expanded once the official approval has been given to open the hall accordingly. We will continue to publish or confirm the final program six weeks before the scheduled event.

Whether it’s in London, Paris, or at the Met – wherever you go to hear opera these days, you’re sure to encounter Sonya Yoncheva. Everywhere she sings, the “it girl” of the international opera scene shines in the most demanding solo roles. At her Festspielhaus gala, the Bulgarian soprano will be presenting arias by Verdi and Puccini. After Verdi had infused the melody with a psychological quality, with Puccini it acquired its most scintillating orchestral accompaniment. Both composers embody the endpoint and culmination of Italian opera. Several of their arias have become popular tunes: the perfect background for an unforgettable gala evening.
