Today and tomorrow we will once again be welcoming Sir Simon Rattle – this time as principal conductor of his new ensemble, the London Symphony Orchestra. In both concerts Rattle will be presenting Beethoven alongside Alban Berg. In Beethoven’s Oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives, renowned Slovakian tenor Pavol Breslik will sing the role of Jesus. Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto, which was written upon the death of Alma Mahler’s daughter Manon, will be interpreted at the Festival Hall Baden-Baden by Georgian-German master violinist Lisa Batiashvili.
