Simon Boccanegra is an unhappy lover, father, prince of peace, politician of power, corsair, and doge. In recent years, Plácido Domingo has adopted the baritone role as one of his new favorites. The production of the Mariinsky Theater St. Petersburg will be led by Valery Gergiev. In summer 2018 Tatiana Serjan celebrated a triumph in Baden-Baden as Adriana Lecouvreur. The staging – a co-production of the Mariinsky Theater with the opera houses La Fenice, Venice and Genoa – is the creation of Andrea de Rosa.
