Swan Lake

Mariinsky Ballet, St. Petersburg

Description Program Artists

It’s true that we can’t guarantee snow. But the “white acts” of the ballet classic Swan Lake can certainly be counted on to get us in the mood for Christmas. The moment the corps de ballet of swans appear on stage, we’re sure to hear “aaaahs” from the audience. No other ballet company on earth achieves the perfection in this work that we can experience with the Mariinsky ensemble. The central “white acts” have an interesting history, the ballet classic having been staged by two choreographers. It is this balanced alternation between two dancing styles, combined with Tchaikovsky’s immortal music, that makes Swan Lake so unique.
