Festival Matinee: Musicians of the SWR Symphonieorchester

Description Program Artists

All events for the second half of the 2020–2021 season are still planned, but cannot currently be booked. Advance ticket sales have been interrupted. The current experience with the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that in the event of strong demand (above the currently permitted 500 guests), advance sales can only be expanded once the official approval has been given to open the hall accordingly. We will continue to publish or confirm the final program six weeks before the scheduled event.

Can we imagine Richard Wagner changing diapers? Probably not. Nevertheless, this seminal composer left us an enchanting musical family scene. It features a lullaby and a baby that won’t fall asleep – Siegfried and his mother Cosima are the dedicatees of Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll. In our program, this chamber music gem will bridge over to Mendelssohn’s Octet, a stroke of genius of the sixteen-year-old composer. In between we will be hearing music by Schumann, presented by members of the SWR Symphonieorchester with Martin Stadtfeld at the piano.
