“Must it be?” is written above the score of Beethoven’s final string quartet. Most certainly, yes! It was high time for the legendary Hungarian quartet and the celebrated Canadian piano virtuoso to come to the Festival Hall: with Beethoven’s quartet, Chopin’s famous Polonaise-Fantaisie, and a piano quintet by Hungarian late Romanticist Ernst von Dohnányi.
