Kirill Petrenko and National Youth Orchestra of Germany

P. I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 3 ; Bénazetsaal, Kurhaus

Description Program Artists

All events for the second half of the 2020–2021 season are still planned, but cannot currently be booked. Advance ticket sales have been interrupted. The current experience with the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that in the event of strong demand (above the currently permitted 500 guests), advance sales can only be expanded once the official approval has been given to open the hall accordingly. We will continue to publish or confirm the final program six weeks before the scheduled event.

In addition to a full schedule of concerts, members of the Berliner Philharmoniker still find time to coach talented musicians from the National Youth Orchestra of Germany, a tradition of the Baden-Baden Easter Festival that Kirill Petrenko will also be continuing. The conductor will rehearse Tchaikovsky’s Third Symphony with the young artists, a work also known as “Winter Dreams.” Not known enough, one might add: the symphony, a stroke of genius of the young composer comparable only to his First Piano Concerto, is full of magnificent music and a genuine discovery.
