When Cinderella's ball gown was stolen from a museum in 2014, people were horrified. After all, the dress had not belonged to just any Cinderella, but to the unique and wonderful embodiment of the fairy-tale character, eternally loved by all boys big and small: immortalized on screen by Libuse Safránková in the legendary film Three Wishes for Cinderella. Incidentally, the dress reappeared soon afterward. The thief had no sense of decency, it is true, but he nevertheless showed some style by mailing his stolen item to the headquarters of Schloesserland Sachsen, which oversees the palaces and castles of Saxony. The fact that the crime occurred illustrates how much the fairy tale film has been valued – by many generations of viewers, who, at the Festspielhaus, now become listeners as well: the film music will be played live by a symphony orchestra during the screening.
