Diana Damrau and Helmut Deutsch

Spanish songs and songs by Robert and Clara Schumann, as well as Richard Strauss

Description Program Artists

Diana Damrau will also step onto the Festspielhaus stage at “prime time,” at 8.15 pm on Holy Saturday, April 3. Together with Helmut Deutsch at the piano, she will be interpreting Schumann's Frauenliebe und -leben and songs by Clara and Robert Schumann as well as by Richard Strauss, and also bringing a Mediterranean flair to the Festspielhaus stage and home devices with Spanish melodies. A lively tone will be set for Easter with moderator Jasmin Bachmann – this much can be revealed: it will be colorful!

For many years now, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden has been one of the stages where Diana Damrau has enjoyed making guest appearances: in 2020 she sang Strauss’s Four Last Songs with Valery Gergiev, in 2018 she shared the stage with Jonas Kaufmann, and she has sung roles including Konstanze and Donna Anna in concert-version Mozart performances and in a Rosenkavalier released on DVD. Damrau appears regularly at Milan’s La Scala, the Met in New York, the state operas in Vienna, Paris, and Munich, and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and was a guest at the Berliner Philharmoniker's New Year's Eve concert with Kirill Petrenko.
