Brahms Cycle II
Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Conductor and Andreas Ottensamer, Clarinet
All events for the second half of the 2020–2021 season are still planned, but cannot currently be booked. Advance ticket sales have been interrupted. The current experience with the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that in the event of strong demand (above the currently permitted 500 guests), advance sales can only be expanded once the official approval has been given to open the hall accordingly. We will continue to publish or confirm the final program six weeks before the scheduled event.
Brahms liked to enjoy himself, and this can be seen (and heard!) in his Second Symphony. It was begun at the Wörthersee and finished in Baden-Baden, earning it the nickname “Lichtentaler” in these parts. The work also gives a fittingly idyllic impression – forming an intentional contrast with the dramatic First, which Yannick Nézet-Séguin is presenting on the previous day. Speaking of idylls: the second work on the program, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto interpreted by the principal clarinetist of the Berliner Philharmoniker, became well-known to wide audiences in the film Out of Africa.

Program
