Arcadi Volodos

Piano recital

Description Program Artists

Pianist Arcadi Volodos rose to stardom thanks to his breathtaking technique. He will be showcasing this technique in the “Gasteiner” Sonata, one of Schubert's virtuoso piano works that tend to be an exception in the composer’s oeuvre. The Viennese classicist usually focused more on turning inward, on time standing still, on the Romantic invitation to “linger for a while.” Now Volodos has devoted himself to the composer’s music, becoming one of the leading Schubert interpreters of our time. If you mention this pianist today, it’s not just the virtuoso that comes to mind, but above all the singer on the piano: a master of slow movements and an expert portrayer of nuances who also crafts the small miniature to perfection, lending each of Schumann's brief Scenes from Childhood its own special character.
