Behzod Abduraimov to step in for Daniil Trifonov

Baden-Baden Summer Festival concert on July 21, 2017 with Valery Gergiev

World-class young Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov will be stepping in for the soloist of the Baden-Baden Summer Festival concert on July 21, 2017. Artistic Director Andreas Mölich-Zebhauser decided on this change at the request of Trifonov. “Daniil Trifonov implored me not to be obliged to interrupt his stay in the United States, since the U.S. entry requirements have recently been changed. In order to ensure that the artist will be able to return to the U.S. in the future, I accepted his request,” explained the Artistic Director. Fortunately, conductor Valery Gergiev was able to engage Behzod Abduraimov on short notice to interpret the planned work of the evening, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with the orchestra in Baden-Baden. Behzod Abduraimov, who was born in Tashkent in 1990, is, like Daniil Trifonov, one of the highly successful young pianists of our day. The Washington Post recently wrote: “Keep your ear on this pianist!” His debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall drew wide acclaim. In the second half of the concert on July 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM, we will be hearing, as planned, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s cantata The Bells to a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Tickets for the concert remain valid. The Festival Hall invites those who already hold tickets and are interested to attend a concert featuring Mozart piano concertos on July 8 free of charge.
