A new conductor for “Norma”
Gianluca Capuano is taking over the baton
The two Norma performances with Cecilia Bartoli on November 10 and 12, 2016 at Baden-Baden’s Autumn Festival will be directed by Italian conductor Gianluca Capuano, who will be stepping in for his colleague Diego Fasolis. Due to a scheduling conflict, Diego Fasolis has handed the baton to Gianluca Capuano, who has already led a number of productions, including performances with Cecilia Bartoli and French countertenor Philippe Jarrousky. Gianluca Capuano is known as
an expert in early music and complex choral works. With his musical background, he is very much on the same wavelength as Cecilia Bartoli, having already participated in her Norma production at the Salzburg Festival. Earlier this summer, the young maestro conducted two performances of Norma with the singer at the Edinburgh Festival, promptly earning praise from the British press.
