Klaus Maria Brandauer as “Captain Ahab”

Klaus Maria Brandauer will open the Autumn Festival in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden on 29th September 2010 at 8.00pm with the symphonic melodrama “Captain Ahab”. Brandauer will slip into the role of the vengeful captain from the novel “Moby Dick” by Herman Melville. The Viennese actor will be accompanied by Germany’s orchestra with the longest tradition - the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden - under the direction of Sebastian Weigle. Martin Mühleis is responsible for the conceptual design, text and direction of this “spoken opera” and, together with composer Libor Sima, he has created the ideal symbiosis of music and speech to bring the nuances of Captain Ahab’s relentless hunt for the white whale to the stage.  ›› Tickets
