Simone Kermes is celebrated the world over as an exceptional talent - a singer with an extraordinary vocal range and overwhelming expressive power. We in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden have worked with the musician since 2002, when she was still considered an insiders’ tip. However, even then she was recognised amongst musical connoisseurs as being one to watch. A particular highlight of the last season was her exceptionally beautiful performance as “Dido” in the opera “Dido and Aeneas”, when she took everyone’s breath away. Initially erupting like a volcano, her magnificent voice gradually became softer during the death aria before finally balancing on the precipice of audibility. Now the time is definitely right for us to present her in a solo concert!
