A prince’s heart ignites…and burns. Of course, two women are involved in this. The fact that his heart burns for both is significant for the prince and most fortunate for us. Swan Lake is perhaps the most beautiful of all ballets. The happily colourful group scenes alternated with those of the secretive romantic swan are what gives it its unique charm. No company performs this magnificent ballet as beautifully as the Mariinsky ensemble. Their “Swan Lake production” - with its historical background and magically naïve aesthetic illusion - is an eternal favourite, not only throughout the festive season.
