Mozart with Murray Perahia
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields
Composer: Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus
Murray Perahia © Felix Broede
Those who would like to hear piano music from the Viennese Classical Period played to absolute perfection cannot afford to walk past three pianists: András Schiff, Mitsuko Uchida and Murray Perahia. For a long time it was believed the latter might have to give up playing the piano entirely after a hand disease forced Perahia to abandon his solo career. The artist then searched within himself, studied scores, books and other sources and from that a musician emerged who - after his wondrous recovery - developed into a true piano prodigy. In these modern times, very few are able to play in such an “internalised” class – but oh, HOW wonderfully they play!
