Classical ballet is the most perfect of art forms because it is the most artistic. Nothing is left to chance, with great emotions transformed into beautiful gestures until a dramatic and eternally enduring work is brought to life. French-Albanian choreographer Angelin Preljocaj nurtures this style. For the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris he created a classical work set to the music of Mozart which immediately won the important Prix Benois de la Danse. Now the Mariinsky team have incorporated this brilliant creation into their repertoire. For years the ensemble has opened up to Western choreographers, giving them the opportunity to explore new works and adding them to the ranks of the eternally young classics.
