In 2011 we waited with great anticipation for the “Juilliards” – the most distinguished American string quartet – to grace our stage but unfortunately, due to illness they were forced to cancel their European tour. This has now been reorganised. The programme includes the 1st Prussian Quartet by Mozart, in which the cello truly comes into its own. This is followed by Beethoven’s final quartet, about which the composer himself raised the famous question “Must it be?”. We now have the answer – “It most certainly must!”.
