J. S. Bach “Mass in B Minor”
Bach Collegium Japan & Masaaki Suzuki
- Sun., 27. May 2012, 18:00 o'clock
Composer: Bach, Johann Sebastian
Masaaki Suzuki © Marco Borggreve
For Masaaki Suzuki we should – no, we must – make an exception. So here it goes – please read the following internet page http://www.zeit.de/2005/34/Masaaki_Suzuki ! We definitely could not have written a better hymn of praise about Bach, Suzuki and the B Minor Mass ourselves. The intimacy with which his musicians play Bach is unique throughout the world. Of course this doesn’t mean that others don’t also play Bach beautifully! However, the type of beauty which Suzuki regularly succeeds in producing is unique – as though this artist has discovered a special blend of sounds he won’t reveal. The world is small but Bach is large, and as such it sometimes becomes necessary to travel to Japan to hear inimitable Bach performed. Alternatively, why not simply come to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden?
