It feels as if it took place only yesterday, not last season. If we close our eyes and reminisce, the concert with violinist Isabelle Faust is still music to our ears. The intelligence with which this musician put her programme together was fascinating, alternating American contemporary music with classical Schumann. Indescribable was the concentration Isabelle Faust transferred to her audience, who held their collective breath in anticipation. This Season Isabelle Faust is returning with her friends to perform Schubert’s rarely played Octet. The work – one of Schubert’s most significant – constantly alternates between the lowest emotional abysses and traditional minstrelsy.
