Yet another career that began with a scandal! Ingolf Wunder took second prize in the 2010 International Chopin Competition, and nobody could understand the jury’s decision. At the end of the presentation, Wunder and the winner of the competition performed a concert together and it immediately became clear to everyone – second place?! Ingolf Wunder is a world-class talent. The Deutsche Grammophon immediately signed the pianist, a man who didn’t begin playing piano until he was 14 years old, winning his first competition only nine months later. When asked why he plays Chopin Etudes so fast, his answer is simple – “Because I can”. Definitely a performance not to be missed!
