Violin Sonatas

The three great Bs! Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. To perform works by these three composers in a single concert fits the cliché which Hilary Hahn already enjoys – this woman is a contributor to historic monuments! Her recording of Bach’s solo works for violin – at the tender age of 15 – once and for all ensured she discarded the erroneous belief that only those over the age of sixty are successfully able to interpret the great works. Today this CD takes pride of place in many a music collection, right next to Gould’s Bach recordings. That is where it belongs, despite Hahn’s style being entirely different to that of Gould – namely averse to every type of eccentricity. However, with these classics there is always some room for surprises. The violinist will introduce some contemporary encores to her programme – compositions which have been written especially for her.
