In our previous season Gabriela Montero’s improvisations were met with vast waves of enthusiasm, so naturally we had to invite her back! Montero dares to spontaneously reel out cadenzas, and sees improvisation as the air needed to breath – an air that provides both sparkle and spontaneity – which serves only to benefit her classical interpretations. For this Sunday matinee performance Gabriela Montero will play the Three Intermezzi by Johannes Brahms, and also improvise on themes by the composer. A wonderful highlight of this year’s Brahms-Tage!
