“Zephyr” is the name of the gentle, friendly god of the west wind - and Zefiro is the name of a small, exquisite ensemble which principally dedicates itself to wind instrument music of the 18th century. From time to time – as is the case here – they invite a few string players to join in, enabling them to play music as part of a larger ensemble. Even on these occasions however, the focus remains on the breathing of the wind players. Expression occurs less as the result of pathos than through meaningful phrasing. The music is played purely for the sheer joy of playing and we heartily recommend it to you.
