One of the most gifted pianists of his generation, Arcadi Volodos is an über-virtuoso. He generally performs bravura works in the particularly difficult style of his role model Horowitz - and this from a man who actually discovered the piano relatively late in life. Initially Volodos devoted his energy to singing and conducting until his immense gift eventually led him to the piano. Nevertheless, his vocal roots can be heard in every one of his interpretations. And the things he dares to tackle! He insists on constantly revising his playing of Liszt compositions (he is a phenomenal performer of Liszt), and at the latest since his debut in Carnegie Hall has his reputation amongst pianists become legendary.
