In doing so she changes the tone colour depending on whether accompanied by woodwind or strings, and the notoriously difficult finale sounds simple and relaxed in her accomplished hands. A Tchaikovsky for the 21st century – sometimes it just takes time for a work to find its perfect interpreter!
