Organ & Brass

Matinee

Not yet thirty and already the organist at Berlin’s Memorial Church: Sebastian Heindl, who will feature on today’s program, was born in Gera, then trained as an organist as a member of the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir, and finally graduated from the Leipzig University of Music. Sound like a lot of Bach? As a matter of fact, Heindl took part in John Eliot Gardiner's BBC documentary Bach: A Passionate Life, in addition to his numerous organ recordings with the St. Thomas Choir. He will also be performing Bach today, but only briefly – before he joins the Brasssonanz ensemble in plunging into a program that presents the light and virtuoso side of his ponderous instrument. A can’t-miss!
