Bamberger Symphoniker

Christoph Eschenbach, María Dueñas

It’s no longer a secret: the small city of Bamberg is home to one of the world’s finest orchestras. On its tour, the ensemble will be presenting a new star in the violin firmament. María Dueñas will be taking her place in a great tradition at the Festspielhaus: with Beethoven's Violin Concerto, a work that became a classic because it does everything differently. A solo timpani opening a concerto for a melodic instrument? A bold provocation indeed! And quite different from the drumbeats at the beginning of Brahms’s First Symphony, which reminded the audience of the relentless march of fate – up to the radiant brass chorales in the happy-ending finale, which still today sweeps listeners off their feet.
