Kent Nagano in the Festspielhaus
Kent Nagano and the Bavarian State Orchestra will open the 2010/2011 season in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden on 17th September 2010 at 8.00pm. Nagano - who is praised for his rich, colourful interpretations - has been Music Director of the Munich State Opera since 2006, in addition to his role as head conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. The purely “classical” programme includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s 1st Symphony, in addition to the popular 7th Symphony by Anton Bruckner – a work which achieved great success at its premiere in 1884. During the Autumn Festival Kent Nagano will once again be a guest with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on 2nd October 2010 at 7.00pm, performing Gustav Mahler’s “Song of the Earth”. ›› Tickets
Daniel Barenboim has been awarded the 2010 Herbert von Karajan Music prize, endowed with 50,000 Euro. The award will be presented to the pianist and conductor during a concert in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden on 4th November 2010. Over the past 60 years, Daniel Barenboim has not just made a radical contribution to classical music, but has also refined the musical world and brought it closer together. The prize money from the Herbert von Karajan Music Prize must be used for the promotion and support of new musical talent. ›› Tickets
The Hamburg Ballet will perform – amongst others – John Neumeier’s ballet “A Streetcar Named Desire” in October 2010, based on the drama of the same name by Tennessee Williams. ›› Tickets
